Every winter, the idea of a weekend trip with some friends comes up. But for the ski trip to make it out of the group chat, a destination is necessary. Ohio isn’t by any means an ideal location for winter sports, and local “mountains” are notorious for long lift lines and sheets of ice. All hope isn’t lost, though; there are plenty of great places to ski or snowboard surrounding Upper Arlington. Out west is ideal skiing, but that shouldn’t completely eclipse some of the locations on the map. If driving more than 5 hours isn’t a problem, some of the snow and mountains are just as good. A long drive may seem daunting, but with a good group of friends, the adventure is worth it. Day lift passes range from $50-$120, but it should be taken into account that all costs were from Jan. 4.
