Callia Peterson, Editor In Chief

Callia Peterson is a senior at UAHS and the Editor in Chief of Arlingtonian. Callia began student journalism her freshman year at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas. There, she was a staff writer for The Budget Newspaper and The Red and Black Yearbook. When Callia came to UAHS her sophomore year, she joined Arlingtonian as a staff writer, and she served as Digital Editor of Arlingtonian during her junior year. Callia has won awards in news-writing and yearbook-writing from the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA). Further, she has received the Superior ranking in news-writing, news-feature writing and in-depth team reporting from the Ohio Scholastic Media Association (OSMA), and the Excellent ranking in in-depth individual reporting. She was also on staff during the 2018-2019 school year when The Budget Newspaper won the Pacemaker from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). Callia is passionate about telling the stories of others and reporting on issues that impact her school and the greater community. Outside of writing, Callia is a part of Ambassadors of Change, finds ways to serve other students through innovative Student Life projects, and is a Founding Mentor Leader in the Student Mentors program. When Callia is not at school, she is dancing, spending time with family and friends, and searching for the best coffee spots in Columbus.
